This week they put in the windows. We were thankful for the timing because it has rained a lot the last few days. Some of the windows have grating on them--this is basically a security thing and will be only used in windows that we may keep open when we leave the house--or overnight--such as the bathroom and laundry room. The humidity is high here in Japan and mold is plentiful, so lots of airing out helps keep it at bay.
On the baby front, obviously things are getting closer! I have started to have a few contractions here and there--nothing regular or too bad, but never-the-less, a good sign that hopefully this little guy will come on his own--and hopefully in not the too distant future. My due date is tomorrow and there is a full moon tonight, so we'll see!

On a post you made in 2008, yousaid something about hacing spare kimono to give away?
In particular, I was interested in the childrens kimono. I do presentations, and discussions around my area about traidiotnal japanese culture. In particular I work children ALOT - be it the school or Girl Scouts. The kids always want to handle kimono, and try them on. However I have no childrens kimono, and have been unable to find any.
For example, October the 12th I'm doing a workshop with a local Girl Scout troop. We are discussing green teas, japanese snacks, kimono, and some culture. I will even have photos of this if you like. I do this educational work at no cost to the kids or their families. I believe it is really important for children to be exposed to other cultures.
I can clean, and work with any kimono you might have on hand that you are still looking to give to others. As long as a kimono has no major stains, or tears I can work with it.
I would really love to be able to get ahold of come kimono for the kids to interact with. I have my own personal private collection, however those kimono are far too expensive to let kids handle and play with.
Would it be possible for us to come to any kind of an arrangement?
You can see my blog at: http://ohiokimono.wordpress.com/ - it has photos of what I do, and my outreach program where I live.
